Being attached means tying your happiness and peace to situations, outcomes, people, or material things.
You may catch yourself saying:
“I’ll be happy when the renovations are done.”
“I can’t relax until my kids are okay.”
“How can I be happy when others are struggling?”
“I’ll feel good when I lose weight / we get the new house / the kids graduate.”
These conditions quietly tell your subconscious: “You can’t be happy now.”
They disrupt the natural flow of progression—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
When we attach our joy to external things, fear often steps in.
We become controlling, reactive, or manipulative to protect that fragile happiness.
Unresolved fears drive us to push, demand, or overreact—making us unhappy and creating distance in relationships.
The results of staying attached can be heavy:
Hurt feelings when people don’t meet our expectations (“They don’t care”).
Unnecessary power struggles, criticism, and family discord.
Others feeling unsafe, judged, or responsible for our emotions.
People hiding, rebelling, or becoming numb to avoid our reactions.
Children growing insecure, indecisive, or overly responsible for others’ happiness.
Perfectionism that keeps joy always “just out of reach.”
Physical signs: breast issues, allergies, blood pressure/heart concerns.
Common underlying fears include:
“If things don’t go my way, it reflects badly on me.”
“Disaster will happen if it’s not perfect.”
“I’m not good enough / important enough.”
“Others can’t do it right—I have to step in.”
Unattachment isn’t cold or indifferent—it’s trusting God so deeply that your heart is free to love without conditions.
Here are five loving steps to begin:
Choose happiness and gratitude now. Decide today: “I can be happy and grateful because God designed me for joy.” Reclaim your right to peace in the present.
Unattach your heart from everything except God. Reprioritize: Place Him first. Do the Abraham-Isaac challenge—surrender what you cling to most. Let divine love fill your soul so fully that you no longer need validation from outcomes or people. When your fundamental needs are met by Him, security and confidence return.
Be okay with either outcome. Practice: “I’m okay if it works out this way… and I’m okay if it doesn’t.” Reason with yourself: God is loving, intelligent, fair, and powerful. Trust that inspired actions lead to His perfect will. His world, His timing—things work out.
Resolve fears with faith. Use Fear Setting and Energy Balancing to uncover roots. Shift focus from fear to courage and trust. Remember: What you focus on grows. As creative beings, let’s intentionally create light, not shadows.
Trust God, yourself, and others. Believe people can figure things out—with God’s help, just as you can. Give them room to choose, struggle, and grow. The Atonement covers us all. Make it safe for everyone (especially children) to make mistakes without shame.
These oils help soften attachment, release fear, and open to divine trust (inhale during prayer, apply over heart, or diffuse while reflecting):
Oregano: Strengthens boundaries and inner resolve.
Thyme: Empowers courage and clarity.
Rose: Opens the heart to unconditional divine love.
Geranium: Balances emotions and fosters self-acceptance.
Cypress: Supports transitions and release of old burdens.
Unattachment isn’t loss—it’s freedom.
When your happiness is anchored in God, not in changing circumstances, you become a steady source of love and peace for everyone around you.
Relationships soften. Joy flows freely. Your heart expands.
You were never meant to carry the weight of outcomes.
Surrender what you can’t control. Trust the One who can. Let His love fill every space where fear once lived.
You are safe. You are loved. You are enough.
Choose joy today. Watch how everything else begins to align.
