Do you truly trust your heart? You should. The heart is the seed of faith—the quiet place where divine promptings begin. We all long for more faith, yet it's often hard to act on it. Sadly, many of us deceive ourselves: we claim faith but rely on our limited understanding instead of following the heart's gentle lead.
True faith, as the Apostle Paul taught, is
“the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
And as the prophet Alma explained,
“If ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.” (Alma 32:21)
Faith means acting on heart inspiration without every detail known—trusting it's from God.
Not every inspiration comes from God. How do we know? Connect your heart's nudge to your gut. When you feel a warm, burning excitement or "gut feeling" to move forward, it's often divine validation—peaceful confidence from God. Knots, dread, or anxiety signal something else; fear and anxiety aren't from Him. Excitement can mimic anxiety, but God's promptings bring peace and forward momentum.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
After heart-gut alignment, act—even imperfectly. Move forward without full preparation, complete knowledge, or certainty. Mistakes are part of the path; standing still blocks understanding.
Light and wisdom come after we step out in faith. As Doctrine and Covenants teaches:
“That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.” (Doctrine and Covenants 50:24)
Action proves surrender—your heart yielding to God. Incremental steps bring growing clarity: brighter paths confirm you're drawing closer to Him; darkening chaos signals reliance on limited understanding.
As a teenager, I learned from a wise leader that life isn't always black-and-white—much is grey, a continuum of growth. In those uncertain spaces, use your power of choice: lean into faith and act. Your built-in heart-compass (instincts or Holy Ghost promptings) guides you. Confirm with your gut, then step forward. Light increases in the right direction; darkness warns of misalignment.
For many, misalignment shows in health—stress, headaches, anxiety, even deeper illness. In traditional Chinese medicine, all disease is said to stem from the heart. Modern statistics echo this: heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the U.S., claiming about 1 in every 4 lives. A neglected, mistrusted heart suffers physically and spiritually.
If stress, anxiety, or health struggles weigh heavy, it may stem from leaning too much on your own understanding. We're here to develop faith—spiritual power that heals body, mind, and soul.
“Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” (Luke 17:19)
The correct order: Lead with the heart, confirm with the gut, then receive growing light in the mind after acting in faith. Leading with the head alone leads to confusion. Align to God through action, and watch healing unfold.
To nurture this alignment and invite more love and trust:
Rose: The oil of divine love; breathe it in to soften your heart and receive God's love.
Geranium: Fosters emotional balance, trust, and gentle self-acceptance.
Magnolia: Promotes compassion and connection to your higher, heart-centered self.
Trust your heart. It's God's compass within you. Step forward in faith—you'll find more light, peace, and wholeness than you imagined. You're not alone on this journey; He's walking with you every step.
